That time when my design went viral.
In 2021, Bea Alonzo became part of GMA Network. As preparation for the day of the announcement and her contract signing, I was tasked to do the teaser posters that will be released across GMA Networks social media accounts to promote the announcement.
Weeks before the July 1, 2021 announcement of Bea Alonzo joining the Kapuso Network, the task was already given to me. The images that are to be used for the teasers were also given to me as my responsibility only is to do the graphics.
For the teasers, I wanted it to be minimalist in design to put emphasis on what the poster wants to communicate; to give the audience a hint that “One of the biggest artist in Philippine showbiz will BE A Kapuso.”
There are 3 posters that I made: 2 teaser posters and 1 reveal poster. The teasers were released on the days before the announcement date and the reveal poster was released on the day of the announcement itself.
All three posters that were released had been successful in spreading the news about Bea Alonzo joining the Kapuso Network.
The second teaser poster became viral as this poster gave a hint about who the artist is and even gave a peek by showing an eye of Bea Alonzo in the poster. I designed the second teaser this way to make the people speculate who the artist is by only having a portion of Bea's face shown as a clue to spark conversation.
This had led people to talk about it and it made the teaser go viral. On Facebook, the second teaser poster has 73,000+ reactions, 21,000+ comments, and 9,300+ shares.
After the release of the second teaser poster, several posters that looks the same as the viral teaser poster were also released by different brands and is believed to be inspired by the Bea Alonzo teaser poster.
Some of the brands who had posters having similar design include Ikea, Netflix, and BPI.
These designs having similar looks had been all over the internet that major news sites wrote articles about it.
